Wegra's Movie Reviews Collection #3

Posted by Wegra - December 19th, 2010

Animal Farm Review (dedicated to Alec Weinstein) :Interesting. Based on the novel by George Orwell it's about farm animals who want to get revenge on the farmer for his "abuse". I do admit though some parts where a little silly. Also I can't put my finger on it but there might be some connection to history. Knowing Alec I'm sure he'd understand it. 7/10

Rocky Horror Picture Show Review: Two words: FUCKED UP! haha oh my god... words can't describe how much of a mindfuck this movie is. Tim Curray as a Sweet Transvestite, Time warp song, and other weird shit I can't even find words to describe. Thus, I found another favorite movie next to "Singing in the rain". Meaning it gets PERFECT 10/10

Spy Kids review Requested by Madeline: I admit as a kid I thought it looked promising but now it looks kinda stupid and kinda weird in a way. Basically it's "The Matrix" for kids. Though I do admit those thumb guys look kinda cool. Eh, I don't know maybe I've grown up. 4.5/10

Cars review Requested by Maddy: Maybe not one of Pixars most famous ones but I still liked it. Lightning Mcqueen (Owen Wilson) is a racecar who while traveling to the piston cup wakes up in a town called "Radiator Springs" and is put under arrest till he fixes the damages. Like other Pixar Films they're always enjoyable to watch and is a great film for the whole family. 7.5/10

Dark Knight Review: I don't know why I didn't review this earlier. So here it goes: THIS MOVIE IS 100% KICKS ASS. The Late Heath Ledger giving a 5 star performance, Awesome Cgi effects, It is without a doubt the best Comic Book Movie ever. What's that? Didn't see it? GET YOUR ASS OVER TO BLOCKBUSTER AND RENT IT! PERFECT 10/10

Poltergeist Review: They're heeere! Ghosts are invading a families house and somehow the youngest kid is able to talk to them. This movie is just plain creepy and we all seem to remember that clown. *Shudders* that was some scary shit right there. It's one of Steven Spielbergs greatest. If you seen the episode of Family Guy "Petergeist" then you'll be familar with the events in this. 8/10

American Graffiti Review: So this is what it was like living in the '60s huh? Not Bad George Lucas! Nerds,Jocks,Chicks,Cars, and 60's songs all packed into this nostaligic movie.I'm sure some of the "mature" fans will find it a trip down memory lane. If I had a time machine I'd go back to the 60's but I digress. This movie is covered in nostalgic ooze and is definetly worth a watch. 6.5/10

Forrest Gump Review: If you love Tom Hanks then you love Forrest Gump. A kid with a low IQ and a walking disabilty becomes famous with the events in history like vietnam and the 70's. You'll imediately fall in love with this movie with it's humor, sadness and just plain Heartwarming. Not to mention the memorable quotes like " RUN FORREST RUN!" It's by far Tom Hanks best role I've seen. PERFECT 10/10

: Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story Review: "If you can dodge a wrench then you can dodge a ball". One of the only and funniest movie about Dodgeball. Vince Vaughn owns a gym called "Average Joe's" but is facing finacial issues and enters a dodgeball tourney to compete with their rival gym Globo-gym. It's hysterical, witty, and amusing add some memorable quotes and it gets a 8.5/10

Street Fighter II the ANIMATED movie review: For a movie based off a video game this aint half bad. The evil M.Bison is the leader of an organized crime ring called Shadaloo Chun-Li and Guile, want to put an end to his diabolical plan and get revenge. The animation is decent though is a little choppy at times. The voice acting isn't the best but it's passable. If your a fan of SF it's worth a check out. 6.5/10

: The Green Mile Review requested by Angela Carpenter Nace : It was pretty decent. Tom Hansks plays a guard with a bunch of Death row inmates. One of the inmates Cofey has "powers" that can apparently heal people in desperate needs or something like that. It also featurers an adorable mouse named Mr.Jingles who was my favorite character. :3 It's sad, serious and tears at your heartstrings at times. 7/10

John Q review ( Hey that rhymes!): Good movie! John Q has a son who needs a heart transplate. He does everything he could in his power to save him even if it means to hold a hospital hostage. It's a very powerful movie and shows the troubles of insurance. 8/10

Prince of Persia review: Finally! The first decent video game movie! A dagger that can defy time and must not fall into the wrong hands. I've never played the game but after seeing this I really want to. The director of Pirates of the Carrabien did a good job even though some parts are stupid or inacurate ( Like when they say Tuesday and Thursday made no sense) Anyway I think fans won't be disapointed. 6.5/10

Sex and the city Review: HAHA! How awful this movie is makes me laugh. I fast forward through the whole thing and played only when something stupid happens. when some bitch spills red paint on a fur coat and she's all like " FUR IS MURDER MOTHERFUCKER!" or when some guy cheats on one of the girls and one of them is like " NO NO NO!" In a nutshell it's women talking for 2 1/2 hours about shit no one cares about. 1/10

Bucket List review: Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two terminally ill patients who are going to die soon. Thus Freeman comes up with a list of things he wants to do before he dies. So how is it? Not bad actually, in fact I like it. Those two make a great team together. It's heartwarming, funny, sad and just an overall great movie. 7/10

Shindlers List review: Perhaps one of the most Epic Holocaust movies I've seen. Keep in mind we watched this in class and kinda skipped around. It's about a Nazi named Oscar Shindler who helps jews escape from the ghettos. It's Cinemetogrophy is spectacular and some of the scenes are just shocking. Very sad at times too. 8/10

: Pewee's Big adventure review: HAHAHAHA Oh my god this movie is soooo freakin' weird, awesome, and hilarious all at once. Peewee's bike has been stolen and goes through great lengths to get it back. I think what I like most about Peewee is that he's a 10 year old in a 30 year old body. If your looking for a epic quirky comedy adventure this is definetly the movie for you. 7.5/10

Shrek review: One of Dreamworks most beloved animations. Mike Myers plays Shrek an ogre who's home was used as a dumping ground for Lord Farquads fairy tale creatures. Thus Shrek embarks on an epic journey with Donkey played By Eddie Murphy. It's Dreamworks at it's best and almost up to par with Disney. With a cast of unforgettable characters, and such this gets a 8/10

From Russia with Love review: The next action packed installment to the James Bond seires. This one though I felt was a bit to talky and a bit lacking from "Dr.No" but nevertheless it's still awesome.I like Sean Connery's role in this and is probably what many call him the best James Bond which I agree to. You also gotta give credit for the special effects at the time. I give it a 7/10

The Boy in the Striped pajamas review: Very sad movie. Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno played by Asa butterfield. He meets a friend while out exploring who is in a concentration camp. That's all I'll give away. The rest you'll have to see for yourself. 7/10

The Mask Review: Oh man, I can't believe how long it's been since I've seen this. I grew up with this movie and I find it Jim Carreys best film. A strange mask that turns Carrey into a crazy green guy. The thing with Carrey some movies he's in are funny others are not. This is one of those movies where he gives a spectacular performance thus it gets a 8/10

Jumanji review: Ah, yes I remember watching this movie and reading the book from the 4th and 5th grade (Good times :D) A board game that whenever played it will happen in real life filled with jungle environments and animals. Now, that's what I call original and creative. Whether it be escaping man eating lions and tigers or angry poachers this is one awesome movie that'll forever be a great childhood movie. 8/10

The Soloist Review Requested by Rachel Sieradzki : Heartwarming. A LA times columnist played by Downey discovers Ayers a Homeless Cello player and writes about him in the newspaper. Ayers is a bit of a chatterbox and kinda quirky but together they make a great team.Though it did get kinda boring and some parts were f...iller it was still a great movie (especially the ending) Thus I give it a 6.5/10

Letters to Juliet review requested by the lovely Madeline Peyser Happy Birthday %u2665 : A writer Sophie Played by Amanda Seyfield comes across Juliets house in Italy where people write letters to "Juliet" for advice. She comes across an old letter and helps a woman find her lost love. Well, it's a chick flick but it's subt...le and not just thrown out there. It was cute, clevar, and pretty decent overall 7/10

The Matrix review: I haven't seen this movie in years but I do remember how freakin' awesome it was. A computer hacker Neo played by Keanu Reeves confronts Morpheous played by Laurence Fishburne and...Gosh it's complicated to explain you just have to watch it yourself. The Special effects are mind blowing even today, s...o many famous scenes and lines awesome cast. Whart more can I say? PERFECT 10/10

Rudy Review: Based on a true story of Rudy Ruettiger a dedicated Notre Dame football fan who wants to play for them. Sadly he doesn't qualify but does that stop him? No, no it doesn't. He busts his balls to get into the school and play on the team and the rest writes itself. So how is it? Well, we know how football mov...ies are but this is one of the most inspiring. Along with great preformences this gets a 7.5/10

Renaissance man review: Bill Rago ( Danny Devito) loses his job. He goes to the unemployment agency and is suggested he teaches a english class at a US army base. He ends up teaching them Hamlet and hilarity ensues. It's hard not to crack a smile with this movie. I mean the Double D's and no not those kind you pervert ...Dumb as Dogshit! Seriously though it's friggen hilarious and I can gaurentee you'll like it. 8/10

Book of Eli Review: Decent for the most part. Denzel Washington is a loner trying to deliver some kind of bible In this action packed film. And the rest of the movie is just exploisions and shit. It's a little boring but if you stick with it you'll like it. 6/10

Borat review: Dear fucking god is this movie fucked up stupid or what? I mean wow talk about pushing the envolope This movie is fucking hilarious. A man from a 3rd world country Borat travels to the US to do a documentary. He does a lot of awkward shit that is SO wrong on many levels. Plus it's legendary for it's quote...s like " GREAT SUCCESS!" or "This suit is black not." So with that this crazy mindfuck gets a 9/10

Saw review: Freaky as shit! In fact it's one of the best horror movies I've seen imo. A sick pschopath by the name of Jigsaw has taken two random guys hostage and seeing them torture each other for his entertainment. Wow talk about a sick fuck! It's not really scary but it's disturbing so definetly not show it to the k...ids. On the other hand this is now my favorite HORROR movie. so PERFECT 10/10!

Toy Story Review: If theres anything that defines Pixar it's definetly "Toy Story". Toys who come to life when no ones around. Enter Woody voiced By Tom Hanks ( awesome) he discovers that Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear toy and Woody is jealous. But you know the story already. This movie was Childhood for all of us. Adults... and kids alike will enjoy this film with it's colorful cast and perfect story line. PERFECT 10/10

Toy Story 2 Review: The toys are back! Andy's having a garage sale but Woody ends up in the mix gets kidnapped by a toy guru who plans to sell him for money. Buzz, and the gang set out on a quest to save Woody. Better then the first! The characters are already developed and the storyline fits well. Plus New characters i...ncluding a Cow Girl named Jesse. Trust me you won't be disapointed. PERFECT 10/10!

Wizard of Oz review: No explaination needed! For 70 years it has remained a timeless classic with colorful characters like Dorothy, Scarecrow, Munchkins and the Wicked Witch ( Fun fact: The actress used to be a kindergarten teacher.)It's one of those movies you'll never forget and can watch it again and again. It's a m...ovie that almost everyone grew up with even years after it's release. PERFECT 10/10!

You Don't Mess With the Zohan Review: Really Stupid but funny. Zohan is an Israeli Soildier who fakes his death to become a Hair Stylist. He also stops the salons landlord from terrorizing the community so he can complete his mall thingy. Most of the movie is him kicking ass and not getting a scratch. Give credit to Sa...ndler because half the time I forget it's even him! Overall, it's good over the top fun. 6.5/10

West Side Story Review: Best musical I've seen since "Singing in the Rain". It takes place in NY where rival gangs the "Jets" and the "Sharks" are at war. The plot is similar to that of Romeo and Juliet with a more modern tone. As far as the music and coreography it's flawless. The music is so catchy (my favorite being... the Officer Krupke song) It's a freakin' classic! PERFECT 10/10 Plus the rare Wegra Approved Stamp!

Aliens Review: Damn good! Ripley is the only survivor of the freighter Nostromo has been in HyperSleep for 50 years when she awakes she finds out that the planet where she found the Alien eggs is now a colony. So they send her to check it out. The special effects are still as awesome as they were in the first though i...t gets a little slow at times if you stick with it you'll get a lot of action packed goodness. 8/10

The Proposal Review: Sandra Bullock plays a snotty executive When she finds out she's being deported to Canada she forces Ryan Reynolds to marry her. But it turns out they have to go to Alaska to visit his Family. Also his grandma is Betty White! As far as the movie goes it's stupid but enjoyable. Betty White's perfor...mance was the best even through the stupid parts like the chanting scene. I give it a 6.5/10

The Fly (1986) review: Seth Brundle is a scientist who created a teleportation device that can teleport inanimate objects. He messes around with it and ends up mutating due to a fly geting trapped in there as the title suggests. The special effects for the guts and blood are shocking even to this day. It's not so much ...scary as it is gross. Overall, it's a decent remake of a horror film. 7/10

Jaws review: Dun dun... Dun dun dun dun dun dun Those are uh the lyrics to Jaws heh heh. We all know sharks are serious business but daaaamn. We all know the story line Shark terrorizes local beaches people get eaten by sharks etc. This is one of Steven Spielbergs finest. The special effects are awesome and it's suspen...se levels are off the charts. If you haven't seen this yet check it out.8/10

Thelma and Louise Review: Classic. Thelma (Geena Davis) and Louise (Susan Sarandon) take a road trip and things take a turn for the worse. Thelma ends up killing a guy for raping Louise and now there murderers. Oh and I love the part where Thelma robs a convinient store in a badass way. by asking nicely with a gun I me...an who robs a place like that? Well, theres another masterpiece of a movie to the list. 9.5/10

Rush Hour review: Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are a riot in this action packed comedy. A criminal from Hong Kong Kidnaps The counsols daughter in LA so they team up Carter and Lee to track him down. . According to the DVD features the formula is that Jackie Knows nothing about American culture. Then it's the opposite... in the next with Tucker not knowing the Japanese culture. Pretty clever I must say. 8/10

What's eating Gilbert Grape Review Requested for Marci Elyse ( Finally!): Gilbert Grape has a dysfunctional family with an obese mother and a Mentally Challenged brother Arnie played by an amazing Leonardo Decaprio who he has to look out for. It shows us how some people don't have the best lives but they work as a team.... And don't get me started about the ending it made me almost shed a tear. 8/10

Beauty and the Beast review Requested by Who else but Madeline Peyser ! CHILDHOOOOD! This was it. I remember falling in love with this movie when I was 6 singing " Be our guest" and repeating the whole movie word for word. I don't even need to explain the story line. Disney, while your views on love are indeed bullshi...t I still love beauty and the beast anyway. 9.5/10!
